Island Symposium is a temporary structure for hosting conferences and outdoor camping on Toronto Island. This project explores the combination of nature-inspired geometry with modular systems. This allows for maximum flexibility, constructability, and efficiency. Lightweight steel frames are used to construct the body of the modules. Various panel types made of wood, glass, and fabric are used to clad the structures. This will allow for even further customization of the space as the users see fit. 8 standardized connection nodes are designed to allow various panel configurations. These nodes are 3D printed for easy and rapid manufacturing. And the end of the occupying period, the structure can be easily deconstructed, stored, and re-used.
